Moving On (serious songfic yet again) by Lee The streets of early morning Tokyo was blanketed by a thick fog that slowly dispersed with the rising sun. Everything was calm and quiet as the residents had just begun to rise for the challenges of the upcoming day. [(Moving on our way Moving on our way) I will always remember Our first days together It felt like we've known each other forever] Kenshin had just rescued Kaoru from Hiruma Gohei and he had just decided to stay in the dojo for a while longer. However, the days stretched on to weeks and the weeks stretched on, uncounted. He later found out that he really enjoys Kaoru's company as well as the small family that they were forming. Looking to one side, he sees Yahiko offending Kaoru once again with the latter chasing him with a bokken. Then, Sano yells, "Oi, Chibi-tachi! Stop acting like children would 'ya?!" A bokken then would be heard connecting with his head a minute later followed by a shinai in the next. "QUIT CALLING US CHILDREN, WILL YOU, TORI?!" Kenshin would just silently laugh in the sidelines, not willing to get *his* head bashed in. [We were dreamers And we were believers To give up everything to follow this dream] In the aftermath of the fight with Jin-eh, Kenshin almost left thinking that he would be only causing everyone more grief if he truly stayed... He *had* stayed longer here as it is! However, Kaoru had gotten wind of his plans and practically pleaded him to stay saying that no matter what happens, Kenshin would always be welcome and that it would really offend her if he left. So, he reluctantly accepted the board once again. In the back of his mind though, he was secretly happy with the turn of events. Shouldn't it be time for him to stop wondering? But, a small voice in the back of his head keeps saying, "No, you should go before they suffer the misfortunes you carry." He was tired... He wanted rest... So, he flung caution into the wind and stayed. [But one thing that we have learnt Is to stand Together as one And nothing will overcome And nothing's gonna stop us now] Kenshin... Kaoru... Yahiko... Sano... Megumi... Ayame, Suzume, and Genzai-sensei... Yutaro... A new family is born of different personalities each of which is unique from the other. The Kamiya Dojo had been empty for years but the ring of laughter can now be heard spreading across its confines once again as a new age had begun. "Ken-nii!! Ken-nii!!!" two little voices could be heard within. "Ken-nii!! Come play with us!!" the voices repeat as gales of laughter erupt from innocent children. "Hai, hai!" a soft alto could be heard responding to the insistent pleas. It was later accompanied by the melodious squeals of delight. "Eh, minna-san!" Kaoru calls then, "Lunch is ready!!!" "Eh?! BUSU COOKED AGAIN?!" Yahiko yells out loud at the end of his kata. A second later, a pan filled with some sort of sticky liquid got embedded to his head. "ITAI!!!" "That's what you get, you kid!" she yells right back before stomping back into the household. Yahiko's head turned red as he stomped after his shihondai, shinai ready in hand. [Moving on our way We're moving on in the rone direction We're growing stronger with each passing day We're moving on we'll always remember All of our friends all along away Moving on our way] Jin-eh... Raijuta... the Scarlet Pirate... One enemy after the other, one trial ahead to conquer. The Kenshin-gumi gets their hands full with every turn of the day, meeting obstacles which threaten not only to take away their lives but also to divide their unity. But, as they say, 'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.' Instead of gaining more enemies, they gained more friends. "Ne, Yutaro, you can hit harder than that!! Such a chicken..." THWAP!! "What did you say, Yahiko-CHAN?!" THWACK! "Listen to yourself, you kid!" THUMP! "ITTAI!" "Ne, Yahiko-CHAN, who's the kid now?!" THWACK, THUMP!! "ITTAI!!!" "HEHEHE! WATCH YOUR BACK, CHIBI!!!" "Why you... come here, Yahiko!!!" [Now there's been hard times As the road unwinds] "HITEN MITSURUGI RYU OUGI! AMA KAKERU RYU NO HIRAMEKI!" Kenshin shouted as he attacked Shishio with all the strength he had left both physically and mentally. He was so tired, so drained that he almost did not defeat Shishio. Then, the darkness claimed him. A month had passed and Okina could be heard singing out-of-tune downstairs. Although it pained Kenshin to go down to the party because of the volume of the drunkard's singing, he wanted to. When he got there, the tackle that he received from the occupants of the Shirobeko almost sent him to the world of unconsciousness once again. "ORO!!!!" he yelled out loud as spirals began to form from his eyes once again. "Please handle sessha with care de gozaru yo!!!" "Ah, sumanai, Himura!!" an embarrassed Misao could be heard followed by the rest of the tackling team. [We've grown closer It's been worth all the sacrifice Times are changing And I hear what you say Can't look at the world Through innocent eyes] After Shimabara and the Jinchuu, everybody thought that their lives would go back to normal with some wishing for something more... Hand-in-hand, Aoshi and Misao went back to Kyoto to not only integrate what their experiences had taught them but to also move their relationship to something more than friendship... Sano had just left to see the world, leaving a single Megumi behind... In Aizu, she dedicates her time to her craft and, when time allows, will think of the "What ifs..." Perhaps someday, things would change... Kenshin had just recovered from his experiences at the hands of his brother-in-law. Now, with Kaoru beside him, he felt whole. They were on the rooftop of the dojo, staring at the setting sun. Hearts on fire from the aftermath of the Jinchuu, they soon found themselves in a tender embrace muttering over and over the phrase, "Aishiteru..." [We promise we will never forget the message Keep the faith as long as your here By our side We'll make this music last for all time] Some time had passed and everyone lived in peace. "Kaoru!! A letter just arrived from Sano!!" "Hai, hai! Will be right there." Sano had just sent word that he is doing fine somewhere in China. Nothing's been the same since he was gone although the former gangster had promised that a surprise would come soon... [Moving on our way We're moving on in the one direction We're growing stronger with each passing day We're moving on we'll always remember All of our friends all along away] Kaoru had just given birth to a beautiful baby to whom the name Kenji had been given. The boy grew strong and, as everyone predicted, inherited his father's features. Yahiko then had just entered his fifteenth year and had inherited the sakabatou. "TADAIMA!!" a harsh but familiar voice suddenly announced from nowhere. It was later echoed by another familiar voice. With tears in her eyes, Kaoru rushed forward and hugged Sano and Megumi so tightly that the two were turning an alarming shade of blue. "J.... J.... Jo... chan... Can't... breathe..." Turning red, Kaoru released them immediately. "Sumanai!!!" Her hands then ran to her eyes and swiped the tears dry. The two were then ushered in and the whole gang found out that the two had married. "Honto ni?!" Kaoru cried happily as she carried young Kenji in her arms. "Aa." Megumi said with a small smile in her lips as she sipped her hot tea. "And...?" Kenshin asked hesitantly as he battled with Kenji's wandering hand that intended on pulling on his short locks once again. The two blushed. "Well... You see..." the two said. Kenshin sort of understood. "Oh.... *Oh!*" he said before, "Omedetou!" "Trust Kenshin to ruin the moment!" Sano said heartily as they announced Megumi's pregnancy. The chat continued for some time and this time, no danger was in the air... Everything was in order. Their lives now at peace and Japan moving along in the wake of the wars, everything could now be desired for in the brighter future ahead...
