Aching gifts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The dawning of Emotions Misao and Tamoru entered the kitchen together. "Would you like me to make you some tea. "What are you talking about we just ate?" "I know, but you are my guest so I have to offer you something..." "Teme! where were you!" Jiya interrupting, rushing into the kitchen. The other Oniwaa Banshu ran hurriedly following his lead, as Aoshi stood in a corner, expressionless. Tamoru slowly walked over to Misao and whispered in her ears. Aoshi followed him with a cold gaze, slitting his eyes at his bold approach. "What's going on...Is that Jiya?" Tamoru whispered. "Yes" Misao whispered back. "He looks old and stupid." at that Misao chuckled and whispered back. "Let's play a game" "okay!" Everyone was silent. They were disturbed by the conduct displayed by these two. They openly showed affection for eachother, and they rudely excluded everyone out of their conversation. The Oniwa Banshu side of the room began to buzz with whispers of gossip and complaints... 'do you think they eloped' 'they look kind of cute together' 'misao tried to hide him from us.' 'did you see him whisper in her hear? 'yeah, and the way she giggled!' 'do you think she's pregnant?' 'our misao is turning into a woman so fast' "SILENCE!" shouted Tamoru. "One move and the girl gets it!" everyone stood still and the room was silent. Misao and Tamoru stood and gazed at each expression in the crowd. "Ha ha ah hah ahah ahahha ha!" "GOTCHA" they shouted in unison. everyone else laughed except for Aoshi, he was genuinely concerned. Misao began to approach the crowd "Gomen ne Jiya. I didn't mean to make you worry." " I had a little confrontation in the woods. Some Bastard shot me with a poison arrow...shit!... if that punk had only come when i was alert... well anyways, I was unconscious, but Tamoru-kun here saved me." Jiya's eyes widened... "Tamoru-chan...Is that you...I thought you were dead...Come here!" Jiya ran over and embraced the man. The whole room sweatdropped at the sudden display of emotion... "You can let go of me now... sheeesh, I'm twenty-one and you still treat me like a child..." "Wow, Jiya said, now we can celebrate your home coming along with Misao's Birthday!...Since you're 19 now we'll party for 19 hours straight." "oi! Jiya" Misao interrupted "the last time you partied you fell asleep 2 hours after the party began!" "urusai!" "Well everyone" Jiya began " since we're all here, I have an important announcement to make...The police offered us 20,000 yen each if we assisted them in recapturing the escaped convicts...The captain is stopping by tommorow to give us details." The whole room buzzed with excitement. "Tamoru-chan you can help us as well... Also, can I Speak to you later tonight." his voice was a harbinger of sadness. His tone warned him that what he was going to find out was bad news. "Sure oji-san" he said trying to keep his composure. Ten years was a long time. "sure". It got terribly loud inside. The Aoiya was jampacked. Misao and Tamoru tried to catch up with eachother but the noise level was so high, they decided to retreat outside. They ran into the forest between the temple where they happened upon Toko and Aoshi. Misao stopped Tamoru and pulled him down to crouch against the cool grass. "what the..." "shh!" misao interrupted. Entranced by the two embracing figures. She could clearly hear Aoshi's voice... "What's the matter?" he said "I want you to hold me." He sighed exasperatingly. He had to hurry to Misao, He couldn't leave her alone with that creep... "Come on let's go back before everyone gets suspicious?" he said conveying no emotion. "No! I won't let you." She held his neck and moved towards him, planting a kiss on his closed lips. He did not kiss back. Misao couldn't see the next reaction, but heard his voice. "What do you want?" he said. Misao's eyes began to feel hot. "I want you to take me now." she said. Misao's eyes widened. Aoshi sighed...It would only take about 15 minutes he thought...He had to get back to Misao. If he denied her, the silly fool would have him out there all night. "Whatever. Where do you want to go?" he calmly said. "Right here." she said. At that Misao's vision was blurred... "Let's go" she whispered, not revealing her face to tamoru. "Hold on, it's about to get good!" he said mischieviously. "fine, i'll go without you." At that she began to leave, careful not to reveal herself... he probably wouldn't notice her anyway... What a birthday present... Misao ran upstairs to her room, letting out salt tears. She heaved uo and down uncontrollably, until she fell asleep. "Wow she's flexible...Did you see that Misao!" Tamoru turned around only to find Misao gone. "Misao?" Tamoru sighed making his way back to the Aoiya. He had a keen sense of direction. After years of traveling, he had developed a sixth sense. It was uncanny how he would never get lost... "Tamoru-chan!" said Jiya. "It's a good thing i found you...this is the perfect place to talk." "Hai hai" he said, bracing against a tree. "Well Tamoru, Ten years is a long time, I'm very happy to see you. I only want to make your return comforting, but some things should be told..." "what are you trying to say? Would you stop beating around the freaking bush!" Tamoru interrupted Jiya hystrically. "Your father is dead. Marun died last year of a aneurysm." "uso." he whipered "uso." He felt dizzy, he wanted to vomit. He turned his head and began to run. A cascade of salt tears flowed down his his cheeks. It was a dark, moonless night. The whole world grew darker and darker as his figure moved swiftly through the dry grass. Even the air was dry, and it was extremely cold . The north wind had just begun to howl in and the trees seemed to be been stripped bare, robbed. He continued to run, his mind not knowing where to go, his body taking him to the only place he could call familiar. His heart was crushed in his chest. He wished it would stop beating so damn fast. He couldn't think. He knew about death before, but it was a foriegn body. It wasn't real in his world. It couldn't come in his life. He didn't understand. He didn't want to understand. He had done more wrong in his 21 years than his had done in 69. It hurt. The pain pounded on his chest and making him suffocate. "Usoooooooooo!" He just kept running, through the crowd, Up the stairs, stopping at a small entrance way in the house. His sixth sense knew this place, his body did not fail him when his mind was in distress. He picked up his legs which grew heavy with pain. He didn't want to move, He hurt all over, but he had just a few feet more. "Tamoru-kun?" Misao looked up seeing the figure rushing towards her. He collapsed on her futon and grabbed her, resting his head on her chest. "Tamoru-kun." she said sorrowfully. Between sobs he managed to whisper. "He's...gone." Misao then gathered her arms about his head, stroking his hair nurturingly. "shhh" she whispered "It's alright...You can sleep here if you want." Tamoru nodded, burying his head more deeply in her chest, causing her to fall back and sigh. "Are you happy now?" Aoshi asked Toko. "A little." "Okay, let's go." Aoshi got dressed quickly. "I'll be back soon." He said. Aoshi rushed hurriedly towards the Aoiya. No one was around to see him almost break hi neck. He looked stupid. He felt stupid. Only she could make him feel this way... He had to make sure she was okay. Shouts of joy filled the aoiya. It was a real party. Drunk men and dancing women moved about the room in unison. Everyone was consumed with spirit. Aoshi's eyes grazed the room. He couldn't find what he was looking for. His eyes grazed the room again, this time slowly, intently...She wasn't there...neither was he. He didn't want to ask anyone where she was. Something told him to check her room...Yes her room. He crept slowly up the stairs. He knew how to be absolutely silent. He slowly slid her door open to find her sleeping with the man on top of her, head atop her breasts. Aoshi stood in shock. He stared at them. They looked so peaceful. He slid the door and returned to the temple. "Aoshi?" said Toko. he approaced her slowly without saying a word. He then scooped her up and began to kiss her deeply...Misao. He didn't expect her to wait for him all her life... yet a part of him felt disappointment. He was surprised it took so long for her to realize she could live without him. She was completely gone. The fingers of dawn spread itself across the morning skies. Morning found Misao and Tamoru still sleeping. Each had practically been worn out from crying, and Misao was the first to stir. As before, she registered his weight on her. She softly urged him to get up. "Tamoru, it's time to get up." "I was sleeping so well!" he complained. He was back, and Misao was relieved. "Teme! get off!" "hai!" Aoshi sat in the kitchen by himself. Jiya asked him to greet the policeman that would come this morning... "Damn that old bastard". He said out loud, hal meaning it. After last night he was worn out. He didn't know wether it was because of sex, or because of her, but he knew he didn't feel like moving. So he sat in the silence, sipping a cup of tea. The pounding of footsteps he heard descending down the stairs, began to move against the floor in front of the kitchen door. A silouhette of two people shone through the doors. And Aoshi sat up to listen and watch. "Wait up Misao." he said grabbing the sleeve of her cloak. Her long braid brushed against his skin as she turned around. "nani Tamoru-kun?" She now fully stood in front of him. He stared at her deeply. He was about to say something serious. "Thanks for last night...I don't know what I did without you for the past 10 years... I don't ever want to leave you again." He touched his hand against the curve of her jaw pushing away the stray hairs that framed her face. "No prob..." He planted a kiss on her lips, forcing his tongue in her open mouth. He then pulled away only to hold her again in a tight embrace... Aoshi watched the hugging shadows imprinted on the door. He was paying in full for what he did to her ... Yes, this was his fault. "When we were little our parents wanted us betrothed... we didn't want to marry eachother then...We were only kids. But after I left though, I could only think about you. I thought about this really hard... real hard, and the only person i can see myself with is you..." Misao was paralyzed in his arms. "Misao...I love You..." TO BE CONTINUED ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES: 1. No Flames please!! This episode was a small detour from my main plot... it is more of a transition episode, though some important stuff happened... Gomen ne ^-_-^ I guess you have to wait until the next episode to find out about the escaped convict that shot Misao. 2. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about that police mission!! 3. Aoshi sure gets lucky a couple times in this episode (damn Toko)... But I made sure that it was known that her sex was just a distraction...or should i say secular avenue for him to vent his frustrations about the world and his relationship with Misao. 4.Tamoru's dad is Marun...him and Jiya were good friends. They were very close before Tamoru left. Tamoru just didn't want to follow in his father's footsteps...Farming isn't very glamorous to him. Tamoru is most upset because he never got to say goodbye. 5. Oh yes... Next episode Aoshi and Misao will speak(ahh!)... also Aoshi and Tamoru will 'speak'(ahh!), and we find out details on that police mission thing and why everyone will get so much money...if they survive. So until Chapter 4: 'Uneven Communication'. 6. It' now time for our pretending ending song sing-along. SO EVERYONE SING ALONG: (warning: there is some imagination required... actual music not included!...also parts of this song is very, very fast...keep that in mind.) 1, 2, 3 Senaka ni mi-mi o pi-to tsukete da-kishimeta kyo kai-sen mitai no ka-ra-da no cha-ma da-ne dotsuka i-chai sou na-no sa dama-teru to chi-gire sou dakara kon--na kimochi.
